Meares Island Trail

A few members of FoCW recently worked for 8 days building boardwalk for the Ahousaut Nation on Meares Island on the Lone Cone Mountain Trail. The sections of boardwalk and bridges help protect the trails fragile bog and muskeg sections from the impacts of hikers. We worked with some members of the Ahousauht Guardian program and the Maaqutusiis Hahoulthee Stewardship Society.

Thanks to Anna Atleo, MHSS, the Ahuousaht Nation, Chief Lewis Maquinna George for welcoming us, Dereck, Ryan and Eric of the Guardians. Kleco Kleco.

The Lone Cone Entrance Arch that marks the start of the trail that leads to the 830 meter summit of Lone Cone. Built and installed from salvaged Cedar rescued from a logging slash pile.
